The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic Development is the leading regional advocate and champion for the economic and civic interests of the Acres Home community, located in Texas House District 139. Founded in 1994, the Chamber has remained committed to revitalizing this historic neighborhood—once known as one of the largest Black subdivisions in the South—by empowering entrepreneurs, supporting small businesses, and promoting sustainable development.
Through business workshops, networking events, monthly farmers markets, and partnerships with organizations like Be Well Acres Homes an initiative of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and H-E-B, the Chamber is helping to shape a healthier, more prosperous future for Acres Homes. With a focus on education, economic growth, and community engagement, AHCBED continues to serve as a vital hub for those who live, work, and invest in the neighborhood.

Our mission
Our mission is carried out through a wide range of high-impact programs and initiatives designed to uplift small businesses, empower entrepreneurs, and strengthen the overall fabric of our community. We offer targeted seminars, hands-on workshops, and educational series that focus on business development, professional growth, leadership cultivation, team building, and financial literacy. These offerings are carefully crafted to equip participants with the tools and strategies they need to thrive in today’s economic landscape.
Beyond training and education, we actively foster collaborative outreach efforts—bringing together local organizations, civic leaders, and community stakeholders to spark innovation, drive job creation, and expand economic opportunity.
