Be Well™ Acres Homes is an initiative that was founded by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in collaboration with more than 30 community organizations and Acres Homes community advocates.
Be Well Acres Homes aims to mobilize the community to promote health and wellness. It unites partners to carry out community-led solutions that will make positive, long-lasting changes in people’s lives.
As part of the Be Well Communities model to transition long-term leadership of the initiative to the community, in 2025, the Acres Home Chamber of Business and Economic Development and the Acres Homes Super Neighborhood Council were selected by the Be Well Acres Homes Steering Committee to serve as the new leader of Be Well Acres Homes. In this role, the Acres Homes Chamber and Super Neighborhood Council:
· Convenes and leads the Be Well Acres Homes Steering Committee meetings
· Communicates with the Steering Committee members
· Shares information about community health events and health fairs within Acres Homes
· Maintains an online presence for Be Well Acres Homes
Under their leadership, Be Well Acres Homes focuses on promoting overall wellness of the community, by uniting individuals, schools, workplaces, government agencies, health care providers and policymakers to implement evidence-based strategies across key focus areas:
· Healthy eating
· Active living
· Sun safety
· Tobacco-free living
· Mental health

Together, we are building a healthier Acres Homes.
A strong and sustainable network of community organizations continues to collaborate through a dedicated Steering Committee, guiding ongoing planning and implementation efforts to ensure lasting, positive changes in the community.
